If you have an RTX graphics card enable this option. The problem is you need a good graphics card for this. This is a depth of field effect which makes certain objects and buildings look much better graphic quality-wise. HBAO+ is an advanced ambient occlusion technique that makes graphics look even great at the cost of graphics resources. Thus I recommend you disable it unless you have an 8GB graphics card. The problem is that for a game like dying light that has a huge city is that it consumes a lot of GPU and CPU resources. Ambient Occlusion: OffĪmbient light adds extra light effects that make the game look more realistic. The viewing experience is a bit bad though. If you want to squeeze some extra FPS then move the scale to the extreme right. If you want you can use 50% which is a good performance and viewing experience balance. It gives a decent FPS boost and if your dying light is lagging on your system then this setting is for you. This setting lowers grass and other foliage qualities make the game much smoother. If you are facing lag issues in dying light then make sure to set this setting to low. You get the highest FPS boost by keeping this setting low. By beauty, I mean zombies (Lol) Shadow Map Size: Low High is recommended since you get to enjoy the city of Harran in all of its beauty. This setting is more dependent on VRAM so try to go as high as possible. This is the most important setting in dying light in terms of graphics quality. If you have a laptop with battery issues then you can set the framerate same as the screen refresh rate. Especially if you are playing it online with friends. Unless you have an 8GB or higher graphics card don’t use this option. “Vertical Synchronization” VSync for short introduces input lag in dying light if you are using a regular graphics card. But if you are a content creator or a streamer this option may help you.
Unless you plan on doing a lot of ALT+TAB I don’t recommend using this option. You can play the game at fullscreen or at borderless windows. If you want you can enable a borderless window in the option explained below. Some streamers and content creators prefer the borderless windows. Fullscreen: Onįullscreen gives the best gameplay experience according to me. 1920*1080 is better if you can set it for your system. I would recommend the bare minimum of 1366*768. At Higher-resolution you get better graphics quality and higher resolutions are better for your eyes compared to lower resolutions. It is recommended while playing Dying Light, the reason being the quality is drastically impacted with resolution. Use the Maximum resolution your monitor supports.
